Vinyasa, also called flow because of the smooth way that the poses run together, is one of the most popular contemporary styles of yoga. It's a broad classification that encompasses many different types of yoga, including Ashtanga and power yoga... In vinyasa yoga, each movement is synchronized to a breath.
Meanwhile, most forms of yoga in the West can be classified as Hatha Yoga. Hatha simply refers to the practice of physical yoga postures, meaning your Ashtanga, vinyasa, Iyengar and Power Yoga classes are all Hatha Yoga. The word hatha can be translated two ways: as willful or forceful, or the yoga of activity, and as sun (ha) and moon (tha), the yoga of balance. Hatha practices are designed to align and calm your body, mind, and spirit in preparation for meditation.
Yin / Yoga Nidra aims to calm the mind and soothe the body, with no muscular exertion! Poses are held for a minute, designed to remove knots from connective tissue. During the class, you will be guided to mindfully and consciously notice thoughts, along with bodily sensations through meditation. Students leave feeling nourished and refreshed, with cultivated awareness and clarity. No yoga or meditation experience is necessary - all levels are welcome!
Discover a great blend of mind and body, while gaining flexibility, strength and balance! Participants are encouraged to bring a mat, water bottle and towel.
